Teresa Perales

Teresa, also known as Tea, was born in Alameda, California and is proud of her Bay Area roots.  Her multiple intersectional identities, including her Japanese and Mexican heritage, and growing up in a multicultural family, shapes her personal and professional passion of creating safer and engaged spaces to support the healing and transformation of diverse and marginalized communities. After transferring from Diablo Valley College, Tea earned her bachelor’s degree at San Jose State University in Intercultural Communication Studies with a minor in Business and her master’s degree at San Diego State University in Educational Leadership with a focus in student affairs and equity in higher education. Her work includes curriculum development and facilitating workshops and trainings around diversity and inclusion, community care, and social justice, with community-based organizations, corporations, and college campuses in the greater Bay Area, Boston, and San Diego. Some of her hobbies include playing the Japanese taiko drums and dancing Ballet Folklórico. She is very excited to join the College of Marin community and the Office of Student Activities & Advocacy team doing such important work.
