In 1986, Ray started his professional career focusing energy and passion in the health care arena. As a Respiratory Care and Public Health Practitioner, his efforts have centered on those with issues related to lung health and access to healthcare resources. He has served as a faculty member and Director of the Respiratory Care Program, as Dean for Science, Technology, Engineering, & Math (STEM) at Skyline College, and as the COVID Health Officer for the San Mateo County Community College District. He has served in leadership roles with the California Society for Respiratory Care, currently serves as Vice President for the Respiratory Care Board of California and continues to teach. Over the years, he's positively influenced health in communities by delivering competent patient care, educating diverse populations, providing effective leadership, and engaging in policy work to support effective change. His broad and deep knowledge and experience should serve to support the work of COM's Nursing program in service of students.
He holds an Associate's and license in Respiratory Care, a Bachelor's in Health Services Administration, and a Master's in Public Health.
