Micõl (“Mici”) Benét grew up in Germany until her mid-teens before she moved to the United States. Her primary language was German, though now she is bi-lingual, and she is a proud alumna of College of Marin. Mici went on to obtain her B.A. in Psychology and Law, at the University of California, Santa Cruz, followed by a law degree at Golden Gate University, winning several CALI awards and a Public Interest Law Foundation Award. She joined College of Marin (COM) in 2019, after holding positions where she gained acclaim such as at the National Human Genome Research Institute in Policy and Public Affairs and over a decade in criminal defense and contract law as a licensed attorney, with a long history of public service (California Appellate Project, Homeless Advocacy Project).
Her commitment to public interest led her to shift her career to administration in education and she is now an integral part of the President’s Office in support of the Superintendent/President, Board of Trustees, and General Counsel. When she is not proudly advancing College of Marin’s mission, Mici loves to learn new skills. She is honing her ukulele skills and beginning to learn Japanese.
